Volunteering for the OCA National Convention |
|||
|
August 6, 2009 Founded in 1973, OCA (Organization of Chinese Americans) is a national non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the political, social, and economic rights of all Asian Pacific Americans through its national office in Washington D.C. and 80-plus chapters and college affiliates throughout the United States. Their National Convention was held this year from August 6-9 at the Westin St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco. AACO Volunteers assisted with planning for the convention, and worked shifts in general registration, the career fair, the San Francisco City Hall community event, annual gala dinner, and tour of Angel Island. OCA was very appreciative of the volunteers, many of whom worked multiple shifts and long hours to help ensure success of the convention! A volunteer appreciation lunch was held September 20 at the Far East Café in San Francisco where the volunteers enjoyed a banquet lunch and many enjoyed the Autumn Moon Festival in Chinatown afterwards. |
