July 31, 2005

A small group of AACO volunteers gathered at the orchards located at Hitachi Global Storage Technologies, San Jose. The volunteers assisted Villageharvest.org in harvesting a goal of 5 tons of french plums for distribution to the hungry in the south bay. Villageharvest.org gathers volunteers to harvest fruit at orchards and neighborhood fruit trees for distribution to the local food banks. In this event, the volunteers first harvested the plums and then sorted them out. In addition, the volunteers were able to take some of the plums home to share with family and friends!

This event was for such a good cause, even the San Francisco Chronicle and KNTV were there! By the end of the day, a total of 8453 pounds of plums had been collected! Thank you, volunteers, for your hard work!
